The ‘Class G5 Locomotive Company Ltd’ consists of individual ‘Director’ shareholder members each committed to an investment of £50,000. Payments are made in units of £5,000 over an agreed period. There are, at present, six such members with two more ‘in the pipeline’. In addition, have a number of ‘minority shareholders’, each investing £5,000 each. This group nominates one member to represent them at board meetings, equivalent to a voting ‘Director’. The Company is VAT registered and members are eligible for tax relief on their investment under the Government's ‘Enterprise Investment Scheme’. When complete, and run-in, the locomotive will be made available for hire to the Heritage railway sector. As mentioned on our home page, there is a need for a modern, small to medium sized steam locomotive for the growing Heritage railway sector. We have already had enquiries from several Heritage railways about the availability of the engine so we feel confident that, when completed and operational, the locomotive will be able to earn sufficient to cover future maintenance costs and provide a return on shareholder investment.
